Review
The Invacare Colibri is a relative newcomer in the scooter market, which Invacare have used to replace the Invacare Lynx. This scooter is a much improved travel boot scooter compared to the Lynx.
The Colibri comes in many vibrant colours, it comes with two battery options first is the 12Ah battery box which you should give a range of around 5-6 miles and second is the 18Ah battery box which will increase the range up to around 8-10 miles, it features a 360 degree rotating seat, delta shaped handle bar which is far more comfortable and for many users easier to use than the T-Bar handlebars, the Colibri has chunky 8" wheels with a nice soft solid rubber tyre they are the best I have found as the flex to reduce vibrations much like pneumatic tyres but are solid so you have no risk of puncture's, the tiller has a 3 point adjuster to keep it at a comfortable distance from you and the Colibri also has a large basket.
The Colibri can also come with a seat suspension post as an extra and in my opinion it is a great addition to the scooter the spring is very soft and absorbs a lot the vibrations from any rough bumpy terrain , to equip the Colibri with the suspension seat post you should be paying around £25.00 extra but some of the dealers I have spoke to put it on for free.
Now whilst I do like this little scooter and it is by far a massive improvement on the Lynx unfortunately like the Lynx it is a bit small, I am 6'1" and I struggle using it as my legs are just to long and it doesn't have enough foot space. I would suggest if your over 5'7" then it may be worth looking at other products as you may well find it is just to small.
Charging
When charging your scooter you should be aiming to charge it for around 8-10 hours (overnight is a good time) always remember to charge the scooter after every time you use it. If you will not be using you're scooter for a period of time in winter for example we strongly recommend you charge you're scooter at least once a week to keep the battery's topped up, this can help prolong the life of you're batterys
Servicing
Currently servicing is not required in the UK on Mobility Scooters however we always recommend that you try to get your scooter serviced once a year the same as you would do with a car, this can help make sure everything is running smoothly and possibly alert you if anything may need repair or replacement this can be done at most local Mobility Shops, should cost around £50.00-£75.00 and take just a few hours to complete.
Insurance
Insurance on mobility scooters is not required by law, however we feel it is worthwhile to insure any scooter for peace of mind. Not only can you cover yourself if you're scooter is lost stolen or damaged, but many policies come with Public Liability also should you be involved in an incident with a third party.
Many insurance companies also offer a Recovery/Breakdown service as well as Extended Warranties.
Pricing Guide
We have researched this scooter both in many UK showrooms and online and have found this scooter will retail in store for between £750and £950.
The scooter can be found online for anywhere between £550 and £850.
