The Invacare Lynx was the predecessor to the new Invacare Colibri. It is a 4mph travel/boot scooter and is very lightweight so it is nice and easy to put in and out of your car, the Invacare Lynx comes with 12Ah batteries that should give you a range of around 4-6 miles per charge. The acceleration and deceleration is very smooth with no jolting.
The tiller is adjustable so you can either move it closer to yourself to make it easier to reach or you can move it further away and relax back in your seat to be comfortable
The seat is quite comfortable and can rotate through 360 degrees to help you get onto and off of the scooter with ease.
Like most travel/boot scooters the Invacare Lynx comes with solid tyre's so its always peace of mind knowing you wont be picking up punctures on you're travels but it does make the ride a bit bumpy, there are other travel/boot scooter in it's price range which offer a better ride quality.
Another problem with this scooter is it's balance if you are going slowly there are no problems but when traveling at the full 4mph and you turn sharply you will notice that the scooter can become unbalanced and feel a little unsafe, with that said, the user controls the speed of the scooter and should be able to moderate the speed so that this does not occur, but it is well worth knowing before you make a purchase.
another slight negative about the Lynx is that as it is a very small scooter you may find it doesn't offer a great amount of leg room, I'm only 5'10 and can still feel a little cramped after using the scooter for a prolonged period of time.
Personally I would say that with the availability of better travel/boot scooters on the market today I would not put the Lynx on my shopping list, for the price you pay it does do it's job, but with much better scooters available for only £100 more, we would say that would be an extra £100 well spent.
Charging
When charging your scooter you should be aiming to charge it for around 8-10 hours (overnight is a good time) always remember to charge the scooter after every time you use it. If you will not be using you're scooter for a period of time in winter for example we strongly recommend you charge you're scooter at least once a week to keep the battery's topped up, this can help prolong the life of you're batteries.
Servicing
Currently servicing is not required in the UK on Mobility Scooters however we always recommend that you try to get your scooter serviced once a year the same as you would do with a car, this can help make sure everything is running smoothly and possibly alert you if anything may need repair or replacement this can be done at most local Mobility Shops, should cost around £50.00-£75.00 and take just a few hours to complete.
Insurance
Insurance on mobility scooters is not required by law, however we feel it is worthwhile to insure any scooter for peace of mind. Not only can you cover yourself if you're scooter is lost stolen or damaged, but many policies come with Public Liability also should you be involved in an incident with a third party.
Many insurance companies also offer a Recovery/Breakdown service as well as Extended Warranties.
Pricing Guide
We have researched this scooter both in many UK showrooms and online and have found this scooter will retail in store for between £500 and £800.
The scooter can be found online for anywhere between £400 and £800.
