REVIEW
Here we have the Pride Colt Deluxe this is a 6MPH road/pavement scooter so you will need a valid road tax disc (see below for details), the scooter provides a nice smooth ride with its highly durable suspension and comes with a full lighting system (front light, rear light, indicators, hazard lights and brake light). The Pride Colt Deluxe has a captains seat that rotates 360 degrees, arm rests that lift up and down making it very easy to get on and off of the scooter, the seat moves back and forward to either provide extra leg room or bring you close to the Tiller/Hand controls, the seat also comes with a seat suspension post for extra comfort. As I mentioned earlier the Pride Colt Deluxe has a full suspension system which offers a very comfortable ride, as the Colt Deluxe does have solid tyre's you never need to worry about punctures. The Colt Deluxe has a delta shaped handle bar which if you have any aches and pains or arthritis does relieve pain that can build up over prolonged use on a standard T-Bar handlebar.
You should be getting a range of up to 20 miles depending on the road surface/terrain your using it on and has a weight capacity up to 28 stone 8lbs (181kg).
I would class this scooter as a large medium sized scooter that does break down in to smaller manageable parts for if you need to transport your scooter, I wouldn't recommend taking the scooter apart and rebuilding it as a daily routine as it is a heavy durable scooter with the heaviest part weighing in at 65lbs (29.84kg). Also with the size of the scooter you would need a large amount of space in your vehicle to fit the scooter into you're vehicle.
The ride quality is nice, maybe a little bumpy on rough terrain it is a big improvement on some other scooters on the market, as with all 6/8MPH scooters the Colt Deluxe does have a switch on the Tiller/Hand control's to change the scooter from 6MPH to 4MPH when you are on footpaths or in public areas, with the 4MPH setting it does feel more like 3MPH so a bit slow and in reverse the Colt Deluxe is very slow perhaps even a bit to slow but safety is the main concern.
Overall a very good well made scooter that is easy to use and a nice looking as well.
Charging
When charging your scooter you should be aiming to charge it for around 8-10 hours (overnight is a good time) always remember to charge the scooter after every time you use it. If you will not be using you're scooter for a period of time in winter for example we strongly recommend you charge you're scooter at least once a week to keep the battery's topped up, this can help prolong the life of you're batteries.
Servicing
Currently servicing is not required in the UK on Mobility Scooters however we always recommend that you try to get your scooter serviced once a year the same as you would do with a car, this can help make sure everything is running smoothly and possibly alert you if anything may need repair or replacement this can be done at most local Mobility Shops, should cost around £50.00-£75.00 and take just a few hours to complete.
Insurance
Insurance on mobility scooters is not required by law, however we feel it is worthwhile to insure any scooter for peace of mind. Not only can you cover yourself if you're scooter is lost stolen or damaged, but many policies come with Public Liability also should you be involved in an incident with a third party.
Many insurance companies also offer a Recovery/Breakdown service as well as Extended Warranties.
Road Tax
In Great Britain (and some other countries, always check you're local law's governing the use of Mobility Scooters) it is the law to apply and display the road tax disc on 6MPH and 8MPH scooters, when you buy a 6-8MPH scooter you will get a tax form which is a V55/4 and is your responsibility to fill out and send to the DVLA although most dealers will offer to do this for you. With second hand scooters you need to get a tax form from the DVLA which is a V55/5 which can be downloaded and printed or requested by telephone, this must be filled in and sent back with the last owners log book to get a new tax disc.
The tax and tax disc are both free in Great Britain(again you may need to check you're local law's), but you are required to apply for it and display it as the 6MPH and 8MPH scooters are considered road scooters.
Pricing Guide
We have researched this scooter both in many UK showrooms and online and have found this scooter will retail in store for between £900 and £1500.
