Charging
When charging your scooter you should be aiming to charge it for around 8-10 hours (overnight is a good time) always remember to charge the scooter after every time you use it. If you will not be using you're scooter for a period of time in winter for example we strongly recommend you charge you're scooter at least once a week to keep the battery's topped up, this can help prolong the life of you're batterys
Servicing
Currently servicing is not required in the UK on Mobility Scooters however we always recommend that you try to get your scooter serviced once a year the same as you would do with a car, this can help make sure everything is running smoothly and possibly alert you if anything may need repair or replacement this can be done at most local Mobility Shops, should cost around £50.00-£75.00 and take just a few hours to complete.
Tyre's
Tyre's are an important issue on Mobility Scooters, always make sure you have the correct pressures inside them, to Low pressure can affect you're scooter speed and also battery life as the motor will be working harder to drive the scooter forward. If pressures are to High this can make it easier to pick up punctures during you're travel's. The Tyre's also should have tread/grooves on them rather than being bald/slick as this can cause problems with grip on some surfaces.
Insurance
Insurance on mobility scooters is not required by law, however we feel it is worthwhile to insure any scooter for peace of mind. Not only can you cover yourself if you're scooter is lost stolen or damaged, scooter repairs and replacement parts can be expensive and many individuals do not have the funds set aside to take care of this issue, in these circumstances Insurance will be an important issue, many policies come with Public Liability also which is important when using any form of transport in a public place, operating any vehicle can on occasion result in a collision with another vehicle, object or person if this happens you may find yourself liable for any injury or damages in order to avoid these difficult circumstances it is important to be covered for Public Liability.
There are many Insurance companies that specialize in Mobility Scooter insurance with prices around £75 per year for comprehensive cover.
Many Insurance companies also offer a Recovery/Breakdown service for an extra charge, this covers you if you suffer a breakdown during a journey they can arrange to get you and you're scooter home
